TMAC TUESDAY- Knoxville Nationals Week!

PETERSEN MEDIA: Though not having the 360 Nationals that they were hoping for, Destiny Motorsports and Terry McCarl are already busy focusing on this week which brings the Knoxville Nationals.

“Our 360 program has been really good all year and we were hoping to have a better result at the 360 Nationals, but it just didn’t pan out,” McCarl said. “The beauty of this week is we get right back after it now with the 410 Nationals.”

Friday night during his qualifying night, the Altoona, IA driver got the 360 Nationals underway by timing in 13th quickest aboard the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/TheSnowPlow.com backed entry.

Lining up fourth in heat race action, TMAC would race to a third place finish and move directly into the 20-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the 9th starting position.

Working around the ½ mile facility, McCarl looked to pick up a few positions and gain valuable points heading into Saturday’s championship finale. Keeping his machine in the Top-10 during the duration of the night, McCarl’s 10th place finish placed him 17th in event points, putting him in the ninth row for Saturday’s feature event.

From the 17th starting position on Saturday night, TMAC would look to make some noise from the back of the pack as he chased after another 360 Nationals crown but just couldn’t get going against a very talented field of drivers. Finishing 18th in the feature, McCarl and company quickly turned their focus to Sunday night’s Capitani Classic.

With 77 cars checked in for the last 410ci shakedown at the track prior to the Nationals, McCarl would time in sixth quickest in his qualifying group.

Needing to finish inside the Top-Three to move into the Capitani Classic feature event, McCarl would engage in a battle for the final transfer position with Dominic Scelzi and Tim Kaeding.

Finding himself on the outside and looking in, TMAC’s 5th place finish lined him up third in the second ‘B’ where again only three drivers would move into the feature event.

Falling to fourth when the green dropped, McCarl would battle hard as he seeked the final transfer into the feature event, Battling with the likes of Tim Kaeding and Cory Eliason, McCarl would again come up just short on transferring into the feature as he would end his Sunday night with a fifth place finish in the semi.
“Sunday night we had really good speed, we just let a couple of transfer spots slip away from us,” he said. “My guys will work hard this week, and we will be ready for Thursday night.”
